Spacious, good selection, easy-to-search website. Helpful staff. Studio nearby hosts tastings all the time. I strongly recommend Astor, but I do not like the delivery service they use. Bad enough is the constantly changing and confusing online delivery status (says "delivered" but displays "in progress"; I learned from last time to have a full day available to receive the wines). But I ordered cases of wines that sat in the building's service entrance space for 30 minutes on a hot summer day; no phone call. It was 30 minutes since I made myself available to jump and get them before spoilage. The building's concierge said that he told the delivery service to carry the boxes to the specified apartment unit but the delivery service said no. Astor's front end manager quickly replied to my e-mail about this that their standard is "to always deliver to doormen/building front desk staff unless otherwise specified."

Great selections of vine. There are tasting events, check out their calendar. There always someone to help you if you don't know what to get. The place has been here forever.

Favorite wine store in the city! They have some of the best selection in the city at great prices. Also love that they are able to deliver to your place if you choose. I'll keep coming here anytime I want to get wine for a large celebration.

I have placed several online orders with Astor Wines and Spirits and have always been pleased with their knowledge, professionalism and stellar personal customer service. No answering machine but a real person. How utterly refreshing in today's impersonal world of online orders. you guys are amazing!

I went in with a drink recipe from StripHouse for an old fashioned with some exotic ingredients only Astor had (I'll post it). A really nice knowledgeable guy there helped me find everything and also some tips on how to fix the drink. Reminded me of how much I miss shopping and not having everything delivered. Great experience!

Clean, well organized wine and liquor store with a impressive selection of alcoholic beverages to choose from. Centrally located for lower Manhattanites on the intersection of East 4th St and Lafayette, it's a local staple with plenty of options for every type of discerning palate. Great spot to discover new wines and liquors, as they often have tastings of featured wines. I like that they have little placards with some tasting notes or staff recommendations displayed with many of the bottles, this helps the less wine-savvy people like me figure out what might suit my interests. Their products are also available online, their website inventory is pretty extensive. I haven't bought too much alcohol online, but of what I've seen, this strikes me as one of the few very well maintained liquor store websites.

It amazes me how many of friends have heard of this liquor store-- and they don't even live in Manhattan. This is my way of finding out I hang out with a bunch of alcoholics... am I an alcoholic? Anywho, this might actually be the biggest liquor and wine distributor in nyc. The reason I'm writing this review is because they're one of two distributors that have Vietnam's first gin. It's called Song Cai and everyone I've introduced it to has made it their #1 gin. I sound like a fan boy, so if you're in the area, give it a shot and see for yourself. What's making it very delectable is it's extreme floralness, which is surprising because they have another gin that's marketed as even more floral. Like how many flowers can you actually taste? The bottles also really attractive, which seems to impress anybody I've shown.

We have come here on many occasions to shop, and in the past to their lovely wine tasting workshops given by those who are experts in the field. The shop is massive, just a few steps down on Lafayette in the Village near Astor Place. Here you are treated to their vast collection of everything you could imagine. There are always staff picks with very good recommendations: for perhaps a gift you wish to bring to a special friend's celebration, or beverage you wish to serve at your small backyard garden gathering outdoors when the weather is warm. You name it, Astor will have it. During these times, delivery is a great option online. You are able to choose the date and time of delivery, and on your specific date, you will receive an email link to the whereabouts of your delivery truck. Now isn't that a marvelous idea?!!
